Artist’s Bio
Ariadne Manuel (they/them) (b. 1996) is a printmaker and sculptor interested in deterioration, preservation, and discovery within ecological and museological-based systems. Through the use of traditional scientific, artistic, and pedagogical aesthetics, their practice aims to critique the place and power of venerated institutions within our collective cultural narrative. Heavily influenced by artists working at the juncture of science and fine art, Ari’s practice combines research methods with mold making- experiments, printmaking, and the readymade to create dynamic installations that questions what we chose to preserve, and why. They completed their MFA at Pratt Institute in printmaking in 2025, and received their BFA from New York University in 2019. They are currently the AICAD Graduate Teaching Fellow at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, teaching printmaking to undergraduates. They have worked under the direct tutelage of professional artists including Swoon, Kiki Smith, and Judith Solodkin. They currently live and work between Milwaukee, WI and New York, NY.
